Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 2025
This Privacy Policy explains how Editovanie (“we”, “our”, “us”) handles information when you visit editovaniepdf.com, sign in to an account, or upload files to use our PDF and document tools. We are committed to keeping the platform secure, private, and transparent.
1. The Short Version
- Most file processing happens in your browser. Uploaded files are only temporarily used for server-side operations when necessary.
- User accounts are optional. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and a securely hashed password.
- If you sign in with Google, we receive limited identity information from Google to create or update your account.
- We store login session data in your browser and issue a short-lived JWT token to authenticate your requests.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data for advertising. We only use it to operate the service securely and improve the experience.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
In many tools, file processing happens directly in your browser using JavaScript and browser libraries. The following information is generally not sent to us and is not stored by us when the tool runs locally:
- Contents of your PDF, JPG, PNG, Word, Excel, or other uploaded files
- Page-by-page data or document contents during local editing
- Converted output files that are generated and returned directly to you
3. Information We Do Collect
We may collect the following limited information to operate the website, provide authentication, and manage uploaded files:
- Account data — full name, email address, password hash, provider (email or Google), and account timestamps.
- Google OAuth data — name, email address, and Google account identifier when you choose to sign in with Google. We use this only to create or update your account and authenticate you.
- Session data — a JWT token stored in browser local storage after login. This token proves your identity and is sent with authenticated requests. It expires automatically after a set time.
- File upload metadata — file name, file type, file size, upload timestamp, and status of the request. This is used to validate, process, and manage uploads safely.
- Server logs — standard hosting logs such as IP address, timestamp, browser type, and requested pages for security and troubleshooting.
- Contact form data — if you contact us, we store the information you submit so we can reply.
File Uploads and Temporary Processing
When you upload a file to use a server-processed feature, we may temporarily receive the file so it can be converted, compressed, merged, protected, or otherwise processed. We do not keep files longer than necessary for the requested operation and do not use uploaded files for unrelated advertising, profiling, or resale purposes.
If a tool can be completed entirely in your browser, we prefer that approach. For server-side operations, we apply secure handling and delete temporary processing data in line with our retention schedule.
4. Cookies and Local Storage
Editovanie uses necessary cookies and browser local storage for account sessions, login persistence, preferences, and upload state. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels. See our Cookie Policy for more detail.
5. Legal Basis (GDPR)
For visitors in the European Economic Area, we process personal data based on the need to provide and secure the service, as well as consent for optional analytics or settings. You have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict personal data we hold about you, and to complain to your local data protection authority.
6. Data Retention
- Account data: retained for as long as your account remains active.
- Password hashes: stored in a secure bcrypt-hashed form; we do not store plain-text passwords.
- JWT tokens: stored in your browser and expired automatically after login sessions end.
- File upload metadata: retained for a limited period to support troubleshooting and service security, typically up to 90 days unless a longer period is required by law.
- Temporary uploaded files: deleted after the relevant processing task finishes, unless required to maintain service integrity.
- Server logs: retained for a limited period, usually up to 30 days.
- Contact messages: retained until no longer needed to respond to your request or as required by law.
Security of Accounts and Uploaded Files
We use secure authentication methods and hashed passwords. Your password is not stored in plain text. We also protect upload endpoints and validate uploaded files to reduce misuse and abuse. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for not sharing your account access with others.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Request a copy of the personal data we have about you
- Update or correct your account information
- Delete your account and related profile information
- Withdraw consent for optional processing where applicable
- Object to or restrict certain processing activities
To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@editovaniepdf.com.
9. Third-Party Integrations
We use Google OAuth for account sign-in. When you use Google sign-in, Google may provide us with your profile information to create or update your account. Google’s use of that data is governed by Google’s own Privacy Policy.
We do not sell your data and do not share it with unrelated third parties for marketing. We may share limited information where required by law or necessary to operate the service securely.
7. Children
Editovanie is not intended for children under 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will delete it.
8. Changes To This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
